This green juice is a taste of the tropics and is a perfect juice for someone new to juicing. Unlike most of the green juice I consume, this juice is sweet thanks to the pineapple. It does a wonderful job of delightfully masking a full bunch of kale and half a bulb of fennel. This juice is hands down my favorite green juice, when it comes to flavor profile. It is sweet with just a slight licorice after taste.
While this juice is easy on the palate, it does not skimp on providing amazing health benefits. More often than not, my green juices are more savory than sweet. This juice is one of the few juices in my routine using fruit as a main component. The star of this juice, the pineapple, is one of my favorite fruits. Not only do I adore its tropical flavor, but I also really love the fact that its core (which is perfect to use in this juice) contains an enzyme called bromelain which has been shown to prevent and fight cancer. This fruit tastes good AND it helps to keep the cancer nasties away….WIN!
The next ingredient, kale, is from the cruciferous vegetable family and is one of the best tools in my anti-cancer diet. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer tumors and also helps to regulate estrogen expression in the breast. In this juice, I used curly kale because I love how it ends up being a nice light green color but you can certainly use Dino Kale if that is what you have on hand.
Fennel is a fairly new addition to my diet because I am not a fan of the taste of licorice. If you have never heard of fennel it comes from the same family as celery and parsnips. You can consume the bulb, stalks, and leaves. Despite the fact that I do not enjoy its taste, it is important for me to find ways to include this vegetable into my diet because of its wonderful health properties in relation to breast cancer. It has been shown to reduce estrogen production in the breast and is also toxic to breast cancer cells. For these very important reasons, I am so glad to have found a way to incorporate fennel into my diet through this juice.
The final ingredients of the juice is just a small amount of ginger, lemon, and carrot. I add these three into almost every juice that I make because of their amazing antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
Believe me when I tell you, this juice really is delicious. More importantly, it packs a ton of cancer fighting properties in one tiny little glass. Let’s drink to good health!
